Myname.com is owned by someone else and would cost a fortune to buy. I bought myname.net instead. Is there another extension that would be better?

I use .net. Love it. I think those are the best options. You could also go with newer domains like .io or .app or something that fits. But I usually prefer the classic ones. .com .net or country specific like for me in Germany .de

You know...I thought about that too. But I got to thinking: I could just make up any catchy name I wanted to be identified with and go with that .com. I love playin with domain names, and I have collected quite a few, some have grown in value so I could make money with those I didn't want.

Hey Burk, yes I have my custom domain (thebananastand.co) but I've linked Substack to a subdomain (sub.) I wanted to do that so I could also use it for Medium in the future (med., already linked) and also a Wordpress site (www., already linked). Just in case the future makes Substack a less-viable discovery platform. And I write my articles in G Docs, so I always have the original text somewhere that (I hope) is safe enough.

W hen you change to a personal domain on Substack, how are all the old posts handled?

everything will work just like before just on a custom domain. all old content will be redirected to the domain. just one important note: if you disconnect the custom domain in the future, then links would break (meaning the links on a custom domain to automatically point back to the Substack subdomain). That would need a small redirect in the domain hosting backend.

Great, thanks. That’s what I was hoping you’d say.
