Letters by Burk #152: Fitness & Pills
Also, pills, YouTube money, fitness facts, moviebuff, and more
Hi friends,
I have had a love-hate relationship with fitness and sports for all my life. I bet many of you can relate to that.
I can’t count the number of times I signed up for a gym membership. I can probably count the times I went to one, though 😜
Physical activity and fitness is no doubt beneficial for body, mind, and soul. And healthy, without overdoing it, of course.
But it is hella annoying as well, isn’t it?
The time you need to spend, the effort, the motivation it takes. Generally speaking, going to the gym would a massive waste of time if it wasn’t that amazingly healthy for us.
But what if we could be just as healthy without that? More in the main story below.
First, let’s look at my favorite somewhat fitness-related quote that is true on so many levels other than fitness as well:

New ‘Exercise Pill’ Could Induce Fitness Benefits Without Exercise
Scientists in the US claim to have boiled down some of the health benefits of exercise into a swallowable pill.
The novel drug is in the very early stages of development, but in initial experiments on rodents, the medicine appears to tap into a natural metabolic pathway usually triggered by exercise.
When administered to mice daily, the drug, called SLU-PP-332, seems to improve muscle function, fitness, and endurance – all without the animals having to move more than they’re used to.

What 6 Million Views On YouTube Paid Me
Okay, it’s 5.9 million views right now. But still…
YouTube is a lucrative business for many. And a dream for even more. Here’s what you can achieve without any knowledge of making videos or ever showing your face on camera.
How?
If you’ve spent any time on YouTube lately, you’ve probably seen faceless channels. Those are YouTube channels without anybody in front on the camera and more often than not without anyone speaking either. Unless it’s a AI-created voice.
My faceless YouTube channel just hit 5.9 million views.
Exciting, right?
But here’s the deal: You won’t believe the earnings from that.
#3 Factually
Here are 10 lesser-known facts about fitness and health:
Laughing for 10-15 minutes a day can burn up to 40 calories.
Listening to upbeat music can increase your workout endurance by up to 15%.
Exposure to blue light from screens before bed can disrupt your body's natural melatonin production and negatively impact sleep quality.
The bacteria in your gut play a major role in regulating your immune system and metabolism.
Exercising in natural environments like parks or forests can reduce stress and improve mood more effectively than indoor workouts.
Power napping for 10-20 minutes can boost cognitive performance, creativity, and memory recall.
Certain scents like peppermint and citrus can enhance athletic performance and exercise motivation.
Fidgeting throughout the day can burn an extra 350 calories or more, depending on the level of movement.
Drinking ice-cold water can temporarily increase your metabolic rate as your body works to warm the water to body temperature.
Intermittent fasting has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce inflammation in the body.
