Love Letters 101

It's hard to believe it's been more than a decade since my wife and I first connected.
Back then, we were just two young people separated by 1000 km (621 miles) of distance. But we made it work thanks to our tradition of exchanging handwritten love letters.
I know, cheesy — but it worked for us.
I initiated our letter-writing ritual during one of the many holidays we spent apart early in our relationship. It was my way of reminding her how much I cared, even from far away.
After I penned a few heartfelt notes, she began reciprocating. Before long, it evolved into a cherished custom we both looked forward to.
Though less frequent now, we still exchange the occasional old-fashioned love letter.
Why mess with a good thing?
The letters might look a little different after 12 years together, but the sentiment remains. I like to think of it as Love Letters 101 — an advanced class reflecting our growth and maturity as a couple.
