
People say say a great marriage is built on love, trust, and mutual respect.
Sure. Those are nice to have’s.
But let’s be honest, real marriage is built on your wife standing beside you during the worst moments of your life, shaking her head, and whispering:
“None of this would’ve happened if you’d just listened to me.”
It always starts the same way.
You’re full of confidence, fueled by Google searches and YouTube tutorials. “Babe, I got this.”
Fixing the dishwasher, taking a “shortcut” on the road trip, or investing in crypto because “it’s about to bounce back”.
You’re absolutely sure you’re right. Of course, we are.
She gently suggests another way. Calm, rational, sweet.
You wave it off like a man.
Fast forward two hours and there’s water on the floor, you’re lost in a cornfield, or your “investment” coin now has the market value of Apple in the 90s.
But she’s there.
Not yelling.
Not gloating.
Just smiling that patient, all-knowing smile that says:
“I tried to save you. But you wanted to be brave.”
Every married man knows this.
We’ve all had that conversation:
“Honey, I think we’re lost.”
“Oh? The road I told you not to take?”
“…Yes.”
“Interesting.”
I don’t know how women do it.
