Letters by Burk #130: Distraction-free
Also, productivity tips, superwriter, detoxification, personalities, and more
Hi friends,
I hate distractions. Especially while working. But as a creator, many distractions are necessary. Notifications, emails, messages, and more.
However, recently I completely removed notifications (work-related) from my phone. I switched off notifications from Medium, Substack, social media, and more.
I visit all the sites and apps everyday anyway. No need to get bombarded every minute of the day.
Bulk-replying is a powerful tool for creators, I find. Take one time block a day (for me, at the end of the day) to work through all new notifications.
David Allen put it simply:
āYou can do anything, but not everything.ā ā David Allen

Supercharge Your Writing Workflow with These 4 Productivity Hacks 2024
To stay with the productivity theme:
As a productivity enthusiast, I'm always looking for ways to maximize my time and efficiency, especially when it comes to my writing workflow on Medium, Substack, my newsletter, and my blog.
In 2024, with the increasing demands on our time and attention, it's a no-brainer to have a streamlined process that allows me to focus on what matters most: creating the content I want to create.
Tip #1: Optimize Notifications Across Devices
One of the biggest productivity killers is the constant barrage of notifications from our various devices.
To minimize distractions, I recommend turning off notifications on secondary devices. For example, if you primarily work on your laptop, disable most notifications on that device while leaving them active on your phone.
This way, you'll still be reachable for important messages without being constantly interrupted during your writing sessions.

Our Bodyās Anatomical Cleaner & Detoxifier
The liver is one of the most important organs in the human body, performing over 500 essential functions.
It works tirelessly behind the scenes to filter toxins, metabolize nutrients, produce bile, and protect against infection.
Despite its vital roles, the liver rarely causes pain or symptoms when damaged, which is both helpful and dangerous.
Taking steps to care for liver health is critical, as many lifestyle factors like diet, exercise, and alcohol intake can impact its function.

I've switched off notifications from social media years ago, but I haven't done it for emails or news alerts.
