Perfect timing on this as I was looking for e-commerce solution, love they are merchant of record. As new to all this trying to eliminate distractions so I can focus on creating.
Really helpful! Thanks for the post. Do you have any best practices or examples of how you move someone from a Substack subscription into an automated email journey with Gumroad?
So interesting all this information is to digest. Lots of outlets to make money on and different avenues to check out. It can be exhausting but it can be fun too. Thank you.
I do think we should all write Substack about allowing us to automate 3 to 5 emails to our free subscribers to promote upgrades since it's beneficial to writers and the platform if free subscribers upgrade to paid.
Thanks for the article and practical suggestions! I appreciate the clarity on how Substack and Gumroad can complement each other. I will think how I might change my own publishing and product setup.
Well, up to preference of course. I do prefer that Gumroad doesn’t come with a monthly fee. Also for me, the fact that Gumroad acts as a merchant of record and handles The tax requirements automatically is a huge plus. Doing this on my own would be a huge pain. Or an expensive tax person to pay.
Thank you for this. I’m going to check out Gumroad.🙏💙

Very insightful combination and very informative too.
I never knew that I can integrate selling on substack with sidestack. Great addition to my knowledge.
Thanks Burk. I currently use the Teachable platform to sell my online courses but I’m definitely going to check out Gumroad now.

Until now mostly through my digital products. People download or buy them and they’re in the gumroad sequence.
That makes sense. Thanks!!

This is insightful. Thank you for sharing.
can crosspost the same posts from Substack on Gumroad as well without any SEO issues? I have been pondering on this 🤔 for quite some time.
You could but o don’t see the benefit of that.
alright, so, need to write ✍ different posts òn gumroad then?
If you already write on Substack why do you want to also write on Gumroad?
Ok , understand
Great reading, thanks! I learned a lot from this! :)
Good information.
I’ve used Gumroad and liked it ok but Sidestack looks VERY interesting! 👀 Excited to dive into that and check it out. Thank you for sharing that!! 🦋
I used to use Gumroad for selling digital products, but didn't realize it had these other capabilities. Ima gonna check it out again!

Besides running Gumroad for years, why would a new Substacker use that over Stan Store etc.?

Good point with the monthly fee - and thanks for the tax topic! Compared to my favourite tool Kajabi, Gumroad allows unlimited number of products.
This is great info, thank you! I've been looking for something similar and I'll definitely check out Gumroad now.
