Hey Burk, hope all is well. I see you republish your content on Medium and Substack. I get asked this a lot. Duplicate content. I think it’s only important for those who want to play the SEO game with their site. Republishing without a canonical link (Substack doesn’t attribute one) is fine. What do you think?
I’ve been dragging my feet on getting a multi-page website set up. I’m stalled on picking a WP theme without really knowing just yet everything that will go on the site. How hard is it to change themes down the road?
That depends on the customization. If you pick a theme and don't change that much of the design, fonts, sizes, etc., it's too much of a hassle to switch themes later on. But if you do plan on customizing a theme to a certain degree, than you might have more to change and keep in mind for a switch.
Overall, it's all doable. And WordPress has the best community and help sources of all platforms around. So, you'll find answers to almost any question.
If you're looking for some free themes, I always love the work of Anders Noren. He only creates free themes, and they're pretty, functional, and robust.
Thanks for the input and the theme recommendations.
I'll be monetizing with ads once I get some traffic going on it. I'm going through a course now on making money with niche websites but I'm still at the point where I don't know what I don't know. But I also want to get a website up ASAP so I can be populating it with content while I continue to learn. I will be posting my articles on my website first and then on Medium.

Hey Kristina. We’re good. How are you 4?
Absolutely right. Canonical links are one of the main things missing from Substack right now in my opinion. I’ve told them already.
It’s okay to republish. Usually google is good at figuring out what’s the original source. But it would be better with a canonical url settin
